Size inclusive. Slow fashion.
Only pure cotton.
Based in 📍 Sydney, Australia.
A slow fashion, size inclusive brand based out of Sydney, Australia. My goal is to make you feel seen and represented, and to do so while making sustainable thoughtful choices about the environment and human rights. Sizes medium and above only.
Pure 100%
Cotton.
Slow fashion made in small batches.
My name is Nisha.
I have spent over 30 years in the garments industry - from bridal couture to one-of-a-kind upcycled outerwear, I've been lucky enough to cultivate a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of fashion, design and fabrics.
Despite having been on the runway at Fashion Week and featured in magazines, I'm happiest when I'm travelling around India, meeting with local artisans and trying to bring these lost arts to the world stage.
Nisha Merchant Label is the culmination of all my worlds - the fashion, the ethics and a desire to make great fashion size inclusive. The three guiding principles of my label are:
Crafted in 100% pure cotton for natural breathability and comfort.
Soft against the skin, made for effortless everyday wear. Timeless fabric, designed to last.
We care about you. ♥️
Slow Inclusivity
As a woman who has always worn plus sizes, I rarely felt truly seen by fashion brands. The proportions were off, the fit lacked intention, and the most interesting designs stopped at standard sizing.
I created Nishita Merchant Label to change that to bring colour, movement, and thoughtful design to women who deserve garments that celebrate their shape, not simply accommodate it.
Slow Fashion
You may not expect to hear this but I don’t want you to buy more.
I create small, considered collections designed to be worn for years, cared for deeply, and passed on with love.
Slow fashion guides everything at Nishita Merchant Label thoughtful production, small batches, and respect for the people and processes behind each piece.
My promise is simple: intentional, sustainable clothing made with care, never excess.
Ethical Practices
I carry my values into everything I do.
I work with deep respect for the people, processes, and traditions behind each garment. Nothing is fast or mass-produced — and never made to be cheap. Care takes time.
Where possible, I collaborate with women and support makers from diverse and historically marginalised communities. How we create matters as much as what we create.
Our pieces are made in India by myself or small teams of artisans, often working from their homes. I don’t own a factory — and I don’t plan to. Small-scale craftsmanship is not a compromise; it is the foundation of Nishita Merchant Label.
A few favourites.

How We Work
At Nishita Merchant Label, we produce our garments in small, intentional runs.
This allows us to minimise waste, avoid excess stock, and ensure every piece is made with purpose rather than volume.
Occasionally, sizes may sell out quickly — but our close relationships with our makers allow us to dye fabrics and create block prints in small batches, restocking thoughtfully and efficiently.
We source only sustainably produced, premium cotton and linen of exceptional quality. Each fabric is hand-dyed and block printed by artisan teams we work with personally and trust deeply.
All our cottons and linens are carefully washed and pre-shrunk, ensuring they retain their shape and won’t shrink after purchase.
Every order is individually packed by hand from my home in Sydney, with care and attention to detail.
